History of Shadow

Overview
Shadow is the seal for Season of Opulence (Season 7, June to September 2019), built around the Menagerie and the Crown of Sorrow raid. It grants the Shadow title ("A Shadow Rises" in some databases). It is no longer obtainable; the Leviathan and Menagerie were vaulted with Destiny 2: Beyond Light (November 2020). TheGamer's guide (July 2020) lists ten steps; the in-game seal shows 23 triumphs. Shacknews's Menagerie guide (18 June 2019) counts 42 Menagerie triumphs overall.
Required triumphs
Menagerie
- Imperial Finery: run the Menagerie in a full Opulent set. Like Clockwork: no encounter timeouts. Rolling Deep: slot runes in your Chalice (200, about 67 runs, per TheGamer).
- Timed encounters with time left: Parry, Strike, Parry (The Riposte), The Hunted Becomes The… (The Hunted), Time Manipulation (The Crystals).
- Going the Distance: perfect score in "The Gauntlet" with all six players finishing every lap. Safe Haven: keep all three havens in "The Mockery". Called one of the most frustrating without a premade team.
- Bosses: Flair For Drama (Hasapiko), Prize(d) Fighter (Arunak), Sweet and Shy (Pagouri); and the heroic no-death versions Break a Leg, Uncontrolled Rage, Lambs to the Slaughter.
Crown of Sorrow
- Crown of Ease (flawless raid), I'm Not Superstitious (no Witch's Curse), Lost in the Kingdom of Sorrow (loot the Pinnacle chest five times), plus the challenges Limited Blessings, Total Victory, With Both Hands.
Other
- Faster than Lightning: Nightfall "Exodus Crash" challenge, nine Shank melee kills before Pykis.
- Treasure Hunt: open Ascendant chests in the Dreaming City with Tincture of Queensfoil. Mint in Box: the Season of Opulence collections badge.
Tips
Run Menagerie weekly for bosses (TheGamer also counts 16 weekly bounties from Benedict 99-40); bring a coordinated fireteam for Gauntlet and flawless raid. Estimated time: most of the season.
Gilding
None.
