Fishing Tackle

Overview

Fishing Tackle is the tackle box needed for fishing, introduced in Season of the Deep. Without it you cannot fish, and it stores your catches.

Acquisition

Complete the Season of the Deep intro mission and finish the first week of the "Into the Depths" quest. Afterward, speak with Hawthorne in the Tower to receive the tackle box.

Function

The tackle box tracks the fish you have caught, up to 500, and the bait you have gathered, also up to 500. Each cast uses one piece of bait. You can fish without bait, but then you are limited to lower-rarity fish. Bait comes from salvages, Deep Dives, playlist activities, public events, patrols, and destination materials. Catch odds depend mostly on the Focused Fishing meter, which raises the chance of rarer fish as it fills.
