History of Sidearm

Overview

Sidearms are pistols that fire quickly and reload fast, but each shot hits relatively weakly, so they are excellent backup weapons next to Hand Cannons. Their low Range suits close-range fights. They debuted as special weapons in House of Wolves and became primary weapons in Destiny 2, where they sit in the primary category alongside Auto Rifles, Hand Cannons and Submachine Guns.

Notable exotics

• Dreg's Promise: the original Destiny exotic sidearm, earned through the Challenge of the Elders.
• Trespasser: from exotic special weapon engrams, reissued in Destiny 2 Year 5. It has the highest rate of fire among the listed exotics.
• Rat King (Year 1) and Devil's Ruin (Year 3).
• Traveler's Chosen (Year 3), Forerunner (Year 4) and Cryosthesia 77K (Year 4).
• Final Warning and Buried Bloodline (Year 6).
