Primary weapon

Primary weapons are the weapons that use Primary ammo, shown as white ammo bricks. Starting with Season 15 (2021), Bungie made Primary ammo reserves infinite, so Primary weapons never run out of ammo but still need to be reloaded. The change was announced in Bungie's This Week at Bungie post.

Related perk changes

The switch to infinite reserves also reworked several perks that referred to Primary reserves:

• Drop Mag: its reserve penalty became almost meaningless, so it was reworked to give +reload speed and -magazine size.
• Compact Arrow Shaft: its reserve bonus was reworked to give +reload and +handling.
• Inertia Override: adjusted to account for there being no Primary ammo bricks.
• Sweet Business: its magazine refill now triggers on picking up Special or Heavy ammo instead of Primary ammo.
