History of Izanagi's Burden Catalyst

Overview

The Izanagi's Burden Catalyst is a Triumph for the Izanagi's Burden exotic. Its objective is to defeat enemies with the weapon. Completing it upgrades the weapon to a Masterwork and unlocks the Peerless Edge perk.

Sources disagree on the kill count. The Destiny 2 game wiki lists 500 enemies defeated with Izanagi's Burden, while a May 2026 ProGameTalk guide lists 300 non-Guardian enemies defeated with precision damage. The game's triumph objective shows 500.

How to complete

1. Buy Izanagi's Burden from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower. The cost is 1 Exotic Cipher, 150,000 Glimmer, 250 Spinmetal Leaves and 2 Ascendant Shards.
2. Equip the weapon and defeat enemies with it. Enemies count anywhere in the system, so use it in strikes, Crucible matches and Gambit.
3. Keep using it until the kill count completes.

Tips: pressing reload with a full magazine loads one chambered round with extra range and damage, which is useful against powerful enemies. Aiming briefly reduces flinch. The Chambered Compensator barrel adds stability and recoil control, and the Composite Stock adds a little stability and handling speed.

Catalyst

The catalyst is a playlist drop. The wiki lists strikes, Crucible and Gambit matches as sources. It was earlier earned by completing the Menagerie with a Masterworked Chalice of Opulence, before Beyond Light.

With the catalyst inserted, Peerless Edge increases the damage bonus of Honed Edge when four bullets are consumed. ProGameTalk adds that it also gives 18 range.
