Overview

Ascendant Shard is a crafting material, "a self-stabilizing knot of spacetime geometry", Legendary in Destiny and Exotic in Destiny 2.

Acquisition

Sold by Banshee-44; earned from Nightfall The Ordeal, Trials of Osiris, seasonal rewards and events like Dawning; Master Rahool also uses them. In Destiny 1 they dropped from the Vault of Glass or were sold by the Speaker.

Uses

Masterworking armor, unlocking Exotic catalysts, buying past Exotics at the Monument to Lost Lights, and (from Season of the Haunted) resetting ritual ranks. Each Exotic armor focusing step also costs 2 shards (Exotic Armor Focusing).
