Sanguine

Overview

The Sanguine are an Awoken faction that formed early in Awoken civilization in the Distributary, where they lived in the cities under Queen Alis Li.

Their doctrine, known as the Seventh Verdict (also given as the Seventh Tenet of the Awoken), held that the Awoken owed nothing to the universe beyond staying in the Distributary. Because they saw their existence as a gift, they felt no duty to resolve the conflict between Light and Darkness that created them, and they cut off contact with Earth.

Rivalry

The Sanguine were the rivals of the Eccaleists, who believed the Awoken owed a debt to the cosmos and had to return to their original universe. Their dispute erupted into the Theodicy War inside the Distributary. Afterwards, Alis Li stepped down as queen and Nguya Pin succeeded her.
