Monster Hunter

Overview

Monster Hunter is a Triumph in Destiny 2 that requires the player to defeat a giant beast within 30 seconds. It sits in the Pale Heart section of the Triumphs page and is completed in the Pale Heart area. Completing it awards 15 Score.

The beast is Balakh, the Unsighted Ogre, who waits in the centre of an arena reached through a sealed door in a cave system off the blooming area.

How to complete

1. Head to the blooming area of the Pale Heart and enter the Seclusion cave system. Start the Slayer Cyst mission.
2. Defeat the nearby enemies, then find the Hive Runes on the sealed door. Shoot the runes on the walls that match the door's locks, working from top to bottom. A wrong shot summons reinforcements, so go slowly.
3. Enter the arena. Balakh, the Unsighted Ogre, stands in the middle of the room.
4. Collect the orbs. Three orbs sit around the edges of the arena, each guarded by a Hive Lightbearer. Pile the orbs in one spot so they are ready to throw.
5. Balakh is shielded. Throw orbs at him to break the shield. Each time you cut his health by a third the shield returns, and you need another orb to break it again.
6. Bring a full fireteam and assign one player to the orbs while the others focus on damage. Use cover, because Balakh shoots back.
7. Open the first phase with burst damage. The source suggests the Parasite Grenade Launcher, Apex Predator or Dragon's Breath. Save your Supers for the second phase and keep an orb ready to drop the shield the moment it returns.

The 30-second limit is strict, so the damage has to stay high from start to finish. If you fail, retry as often as you like, and consider coming back with stronger gear.
