Legendary Rune

Overview

Legendary Runes are a recurring item type in Destiny 2 that act as modifiers, currencies or enhancement systems tied to seasonal and endgame activities. The in-game description calls them "Ancient Hive inscriptions that alter the very nature of combat."

Acquisition

Runes have been earned from activity completions, enemy defeats, quest rewards, seasonal progression and vendor purchases. The Werner 99-40 weekly bounty Gaze Into Death's Eyes is one listed source of a Legendary Rune alongside a Puny Purse of Imperials.

Use

In the Season of Opulence, runes were used with the Chalice of Opulence in Menagerie runs. Other seasons used runes for Runic Enhancements, Tome of Want targeting and encounter augmentations.
