Essence of Ambition

Overview

Essence of Ambition is a Triumph in Destiny 2. It requires consuming Essence of Desire from the Sigil Stones that defeated combatants drop while you are on the Path of Ambition.

The Path of Ambition is a secret route tied to Episode: Heresy, so the steps below come from a guide written for that content and may not match current patches.

How to complete

1. Start the Path of Ambition. You first need a Tithing Wormspawn, reached from the Trenchway: go into the cave and follow the Taken portals through the Dreadnaught to a dimly lit room, then climb to the open area with the structure ringed by Blights.
2. Continue through more portals to Xvaak, Waybearer. Defeat it with a Special or Heavy attack, capture the Hive Plate, and enter the Core of Corruption.
3. Interact with the statue to "Embrace Ambition". Survive the waves of Taken Thralls, Captains and War Beasts until you are teleported out. The guide suggests roaming Supers and the perks Voltshot, Chain Reaction and Destabilizing Rounds.
4. While you stay on the path, defeat combatants and consume the Essence of Desire from the Sigil Stones they leave behind. Stay on the path for the whole fight, since the triumph only counts there.
5. Return to Eris's Flat in The Last City, interact with the Taken Orb, then use the Shaping Slab to finish the mission.

Consuming a Sigil Stone also clears all Suffocating Terror stacks and grants a short damage boost, which is the rank 12 reward on the path.
