History of Vex

Overview

The Vex are a hyperintelligent, time-spanning machine collective. Each unit is a disposable robotic frame, and the real organism is the radiolaria fluid inside it. They aim to convert planets into machine worlds and are hostile to other life. They have advanced technology, including time travel.

Locations

• Europa: Clovis Bray had a stolen Vex brought to his site on Europa. That Vex built a gate from Europa to 2082 Volantis. During the Beyond Light conflict with the House of Salvation, Eramis opened a portal from the ancient Volantis gate and unleashed Vex on Europa.
• Mercury: The Vex arrived in the Golden Age and began converting the planet into a Machine World to house the Infinite Forest. In Curse of Osiris, Vex Minds called Precursors and Descendants to Mercury.
• Venus: site of the Vault of Glass.
• The Black Garden: home of the Sol Divisive, who worshipped the Black Heart.
• Neptune: they besieged Neomuna during Lightfall.
• Other focal worlds include Mars, Io, Nessus, The Moon, Ganymede and the Leviathan.
