Vanguard Operations

Vanguard Operations was a matchmade playlist that put players into a random Strike or Battleground. It was the Strike playlist from The Witch Queen onward. Battlegrounds from Season of the Chosen and later seasons were added to it at that point, and PsiOps, Heist and Defiant Battlegrounds followed with Lightfall and The Final Shape.

As of mid-2024, the playlist held about 16 to 17 Strikes and 13 Battlegrounds, drawn from Season of the Chosen, Season of Risen, Season of the Seraph and Season of Defiance. Players could not choose between a Strike and a Battleground, and Battlegrounds made up most of the rotation.

Power level

The playlist required Power Level 1350 with The Witch Queen and 1600 with Lightfall. From Lightfall on, power level scaling was disabled, so difficulty was fixed and changed with weekly surges, threats and daily modifiers.

Removal

With The Edge of Fate, Vanguard Operations was removed. Fireteam Ops in the Portal replaced it, and Strikes and Battlegrounds moved into a daily Nightfall rotation.
