History of Toland, the Shattered

Toland, the Shattered was a Warlock Voidwalker exiled from the Last City for his obsessive study of the Hive, the Darkness, and forbidden Hive arcana. Recruited by Eriana-3, he joined her fireteam with Eris Morn to enter the Hellmouth and seek Crota. He was unsung from his physical form through his encounter with the Deathsinger Ir Yût, but continued to communicate from the Ascendant Realm.

Toland is associated with the creation of the Exotic pulse rifle Bad Juju. During the Season of Opulence quest, Emperor Calus had the weapon aboard the Leviathan; its Ahamkara essence ran out of control, and Toland guided the Guardian through the Ascendant Leviathan to bind the essence back into the weapon. Toland also followed the Sword Logic and left messages for Guardians during the conflict with Oryx.
