The Tharsis Expanse is a Martian region of Mars used by the Renegades expansion as the home of the Lawless Frontier.

Overview

It is a Martian outpost region of outlaws and outcasts. Tharsis Outpost in Meridian Bay became known as Tharsis Outpost after the war against the Witness, and is the lair of three rival syndicates: the Pikers, the Tharsis Reformation and the Totality Division. Players operate from the Tharsis Cantina social space after finishing the Renegades story and gaining access to the Lawless Frontier.

Activities

Database listings for the region include Freehold Outskirts and Hellas Fortitude, each with Bounty Hunt, Sabotage and Smuggle variants in private and matchmade forms. The Lawless Frontier also sends players to Venus and Europa for bounties.

How to get there

Destiny 2: Renegades launched on 2 December 2025 (Wikipedia) as the tenth and final Destiny 2 expansion, with Star Wars-style inspiration: the Tharsis Cantina hub parallels the Mos Eisley Cantina. Access to the Lawless Frontier follows the Renegades story.

Lawless Frontier

Wikipedia describes the Lawless Frontier as spanning Mars, Venus and Europa, with bounties for three outlaw factions (Cabal, Fallen, Vex) in contested and uncontested territories. Destinypedia lists Tharsis Outpost connecting to the Tharsis Bazaar and Tharsis Cantina, classes it as a Public Sector area, and records a hidden Golden Chest and dead Ghost there, plus NPCs who give quests and dialogue.

Related story and activities

The Renegades story pits the Guardian alongside the Drifter and Eris Morn against Dredgen Bael and the Barant Imperium. Wikipedia names the Equilibrium dungeon on Venus and the exotic mission Fire and Ice as new activities. The Monument of Triumph update (9 June 2026) was the final content update.

Notes

Vendor and loot details still need the Lawless Frontier guides; those sources were not available.
