History of Synthstrand

Overview

Synthstrand is the first currency of Armor Synthesis, introduced with Season of the Splicer. Ada-1 gives the player a Large Spool of Synthstrand during the Tying It All Together quest, and it is spent on Armor Synthesis bounties (Threaders).

Use

Each bounty pays out Synthcord, which is converted into Synthweave at the Loom. Synthweave unlocks armor ornaments.

Changes

In patch 3.3.0 Synthstrand stopped dropping in game, bounties began costing 10,000 Glimmer each, and leftover Synthstrand can be dismantled. The earlier system, where enemy kills dropped Synthstrand and a bounty cost 150, is described in the 2021 Shacknews quest guide.
