History of Sword of Crota

The Sword of Crota is the raid vendor in the boss arena of Crota's End. After defeating Crota, interact with the sword to accept the Bottomless Pit quest, which is free and needs to be accepted only once per account.

Bottomless Pit

The quest has three steps:

1. Defeat 100 Hive combatants with Husk of the Pit, the common-tier Necrochasm you receive when you accept the quest. Kills inside Crota's End count toward this, and Hive on the Moon at the Altars of Sorrow are an easier option.
2. Collect 20 Essence of the Oversoul, from full Crota's End runs, Crota's End triumphs and random drops. Completing this step also grants Eidolon Ally, a legendary Necrochasm that is not needed for the quest.
3. Defeat Crota again and return to the sword vendor to claim Necrochasm.

Guides recommend at least 1790 Power and a full team of six.
