History of Prismatic Inferno

Overview

Prismatic Inferno is the intrinsic on Prometheus Lens, an Exotic Trace Rifle with Solar damage. The weapon fires a Solar trace beam that builds a field of heat energy, and the field grows the longer the weapon fires. Sustained damage applies Scorch to the target.

The perk arrived with Curse of Osiris in 2017. At launch, a bug made the weapon kill unusually fast in PvP, and Bungie later removed it. In December 2017 the weapon was described as breaking Crucible balance.

Numbers

A 10% damage increase arrived in Update 2.1.0.

Catalyst

The catalyst adds the perk Incandescent, so final blows spread Scorch to nearby targets.

Tips

Keep the beam on a target to keep the heat field growing. The field is strongest on sustained fire, so it rewards holding the trigger rather than tapping.
