Mephitic Host

'''Mephitic Host''' is a Scorn enemy of the Wraith type, introduced in Season of the Wish. It ranks as Elite, or Major in the final encounter, and has Solar Burn, High Durability and Rapid Movement. It appears in Riven's Lair and The Coil (the Enthymeme and Chiasmus missions).

When a Mephitic Host dies it drops the Ephemeral Virus, which lasts 29 seconds and lets players break the enemy's shield and kill it. In the Plaguewielder encounter, killing hordes of Scorn lures out Elite Mephitic Hosts, and their Virus is what breaks the Plaguewielders' shields. In the final fight, Major Mephitic Hosts spawn once the Locus of Subjugation and Elikaa, the Pale Rot are immune. Breaking the boss shield and killing the Well Protector is how the Virus is used there.
