History of Match Game Challenge Modifier

Overview

Match Game Challenge Modifier is a Triumph in Destiny 2 that requires you to complete an activity with the Match Game modifier active. The triumph provides no score or rewards.

The Match Game modifier is one of the Challenge Modifiers available on Ops activities. It is restricted to the higher difficulties, Master, Grandmaster and Ultimate. Normal, Advanced and Expert do not offer it.

How to complete

1. Go to the Vanguard Ops menu and open the Customization screen for the activity.
2. Select the first row of modifiers, then hover over the second box to reveal the Challenge Modifiers. The first box is reserved for Bane modifiers.
3. Set difficulty to Master or higher, then complete the activity with Match Game active.

With Match Game active, enemy Combatant shields become much stronger against any damage type that does not match the shield's type. Match your damage to the shield you are breaking.

Tips

• Hard Light (Exotic auto rifle): hold Reload to change its damage type, so it always matches. It is a weaker primary, so clear times may go up.
• Borealis (Exotic sniper rifle): very high damage per shot, but it needs Special Ammo.
• Outbreak Perfected with two TechSec pieces boosts Kinetic damage against Combatant shields.
• Arbalest (Exotic linear fusion rifle) is good at breaking shields.
