Lone Gun in a Dark Place

Overview

Lone Gun in a Dark Place is a Triumph worth 5 points. It asks the player to finish the Presage Exotic mission solo without dying. Presage is a Season of the Chosen mission that opens the Dead Man's Tale Exotic quest.

How to complete

1. Finish the quest The Voice on the Other Side. Presage is launched from the Tangled Shore and requires that quest first.
2. Choose Normal or Legend difficulty and go in alone. Legend adds 25% more incoming damage, enemies with more shields, and locked loadouts, so swapping weapons between encounters is not possible there.
3. Trash Compactor: destroy the three fuses while the Screeb swarm the room. Detonate Screebs to uncover the fuse grates, and use area-damage weapons. The exit is the grate with four red lights.
4. The Hanger: kill the Chieftain enemies first, then the stragglers, then the two Abomination enemies. Reinforcements keep spawning while the Abomination enemies take damage, so keep moving.
5. Locus of Communion: he hits very hard and can nearly one-shot you. Activate the three switches on the top floor, damage him from range, and retreat upstairs when he closes in. Repeat until he dies. The room turns red when it is time to leave quickly.

Bring clear weapons for add control, a long-range damage weapon for the boss, and area-damage weapons for the Screeb. Strand works well for clearing adds.

Notes

Presage was moved to the Destiny Content Vault with The Witch Queen. The mission was scheduled to return in Season 22 as part of an Exotic mission rotator, so check the current rotation before planning a run.

Entering the bridge in the Locus of Communion fight unlocks crafting the Dead Man's Tale. Solo completion gives no extra reward beyond the catalyst upgrades.
