History of Jacob Hardy

Overview

Jacob Hardy was the human commander of Ares One, humanity's first crewed mission to Mars. With crewmates M. Mihaylova and Ulysses Qiao, he made first contact with the Traveler, which began the Golden Age.

Mission

The mission involved the United States, China and Russia. A twenty-minute communications delay left the crew to handle the landing alone. Qiao and Mihaylova fixed a failed engine, and Hardy landed the craft manually. On foot, the crew reached a ridge and saw the Traveler terraforming Mars and making it rain.

Appearances

Hardy first appears in Destiny. In Destiny 2 he is only mentioned, in Warmind and Beyond Light.

Fate

The lore does not say what became of him after first contact.
