Ulysses Qiao

Ulysses Qiao was a taikonaut on the Ares One mission, humanity's first crewed spaceflight to Mars. He, Jacob Hardy and Mihaylova were to make first contact with the Traveler, which would begin the Golden Age of Humanity. Eighteen days before launch, Qiao gave Evie Calumet access to the ship's AI systems. Mihaylova had refused, fearing Calumet would disrupt the development of a precocious subroutine called "R", and when Qiao told her, she replied that "what's done is done".
