Iron Banner Clash
"Bring the full force of your Light. Nothing less will do." —Lord Saladin
All-out team warfare. Destroy the enemy.
Iron Banner Clash is a historical Iron Banner playlist variant based on Clash, the team deathmatch mode of the Crucible. It was available during early Iron Banner events, rotating out as the event's playlist structure evolved to feature new variants like Eruption.
Overview
Iron Banner Clash follows the standard Clash format: a 6v6 team deathmatch where the first team to reach 75 kills wins, or the team with the highest score when the eight-minute time limit expires. Lord Saladin describes Iron Banner as bringing "the full force of your Light," emphasizing pure combat proficiency over map control.
Gameplay
Unlike objective-based modes, Clash awards points solely for eliminating opponents. A standard kill grants 100 points to a team. Since there are no zones to capture or crests to collect, players are not penalized for positioning or map control—a team can bunch together or spread out as needed. The three Power Ammo spawns on the map (two team-side, one neutral) become critical during engagements, as heavy weapons can shift momentum in close matches.
Iron Banner matches disable all Power Level advantages, so victory depends on gunplay, Super ability usage, and team coordination rather than gear. Coordinated teams performing combination kills or headshots can gain bonus points over individual lone players.
Rewards
Iron Banner Clash rewards follow the standard Iron Banner drop list: exclusive weapons (hand cannons, pulse rifles, machine guns, trace rifles) and armor pieces with high stat totals. Participation grants Iron Banner rank progress toward Lord Saladin's reputation; reaching Legend rank resets the rank and unlocks Masterwork upgrade materials.
