Lore

Xivu Arath attacked Torobatl while Caiatl was unprepared, and she watched her people and city fall. She learns that warriors are not expendable game pieces, and that a society of warriors cannot beat a god of war on her own terms. Escaping with survivors and regaining the army count are partial victories, but the Guardians refuse to negotiate and seem unwilling to avoid another war. Caiatl sees the same denial and pride that delayed her own evacuation of Torobatl in them. She concludes that the Guardians must change and forge a new path if they hope to survive the gods now active in their world.
