History of Hellas Basin

Hellas Basin is a frozen region of Mars introduced in the Warmind expansion.
Overview
Abandoned for centuries after the Collapse, the basin froze when Rasputin used the Siberian Entropy Protocol against the invading Hive, including the Worm god Xol. When the Traveler awoke the ice thawed, revealing a Golden Age facility that Tyra Karn suggests may be where the Warmind was born. Enemies: the Hive's Grasp of Nokris, the Cabal's Red Legion, the Taken, and Xivu Arath's Horde in Season of the Seraph (Destinypedia).
Getting there
Complete the Pilgrimage mission to unlock it. There are two landing zones: BrayTech Futurescape (a Golden Age exoscience hub) and Glacial Drift. Locations include Rasputin's Warmind core (Mindlab: Rasputin).
Vendors and NPCs
Ana Bray offers quests and bounties and takes Seraphite for Cradle Engrams (Destiny Game Wiki).
Activities
- Campaign and story missions: Ice and Shadow, Pilgrimage, Strange Terrain and Will of the Thousands (the last two are also strikes).
- Lost Sectors: Core Terminus (Hive, BrayTech Futurescape) and Ma'adim Subterrane (Cabal, Glacial Drift).
- Public events: Injection Rig, Warsat Down, Witches' Ritual and Escalation Protocol.

History
Introduced in Warmind. Hellas Basin was vaulted when Beyond Light launched (10 November 2020), when Titan, Io, Mars, Mercury and the Leviathan were moved to the Destiny Content Vault (Wikipedia). Destiny 2: Renegades later returned Mars locations in the Lawless Frontier (Freehold Outskirts, Hellas Fortitude); the sources opened do not say Hellas Basin itself returned as a patrol destination.
