Hatchling Refit

Overview

Hatchling Refit is a Season 23 weapon trait that spawns a Threadling at the target's location when scoring a precision final blow or rapidly defeating targets with non-precision shots. Threadlings seek out nearby targets and attack enemies, providing automated support during combat. The trait rolls on Barrow-Dyad and Wish-Keeper, making it available on both a Submachine Gun and Combat Bow.

Mechanics

Hatchling Refit functions differently depending on the weapon type:

• Precision weapons: Precision final blows spawn a Threadling
• Non-precision or rapid defeats: Rapidly defeating targets (multiple kills in quick succession) also spawns Threadlings

Each spawned Threadling operates independently, seeking nearby enemies to engage. Up to 5 Threadlings can perch around the player at once. When enemies are nearby, stored Threadlings automatically activate and attack. If no targets are present, Threadlings return to the player to perch and recharge for future use.

Acquisition

On Wish-Keeper

Hatchling Refit is available as a catalyst trait on Wish-Keeper, unlocked through the "Constellation: Wish" quest (the fourth and final quest in the Constellation series). To obtain it:

1. Complete the Starcrossed Exotic Mission on Legend difficulty
2. Complete the "Constellation: Tower," "Constellation: Lock," and "Constellation: Pair" quests (unlocking previous catalyst traits)
3. Complete the "Constellation: Wish" quest by locating the beam at the designated location and forming the constellation pattern
4. Insert the trait at the Enclave on Mars for 10,000 Glimmer and 3 Enhancement Cores
5. Complete several hundred weapon kills to fully activate the catalyst

On Barrow-Dyad

Hatchling Refit is a baseline trait on Barrow-Dyad, an exotic Submachine Gun introduced in Season 26 and obtained through activities in "Episode: Heresy."

Hatchling Refit provides passive damage and crowd control by automatically spawning allies to engage enemies. On Wish-Keeper, it enables a playstyle focused on precision kills with a Strand bow to generate Threadling support. On Barrow-Dyad, rapid-fire defeats against weaker enemies chain Threadling spawns for sustained battlefield presence, making it valuable in high-density enemy activities.
