Final Tier

The '''Final Tier''' is the top tier of Altars of Sorrow on the Moon. Instead of the usual Nightmare tiers, it ends in a Final Nightmare boss that rotates daily.

Overview

Guardians go to the final altar in front of the Scarlet Keep gate, where the boss appears. Altars to the left and right start the fight by pouring out Hive enemies, and an altar further up acts as the end point. Knights in this tier carry Arc Absorption shields.

When the boss drops to two-thirds health it becomes immune. Two Nightmares spawn from the side altars and two more from the boss's sides, and they try to reach the end point to be sacrificed, which shortens the timer. Once all of them are killed or sacrificed, the boss is vulnerable again. The same cycle repeats at the last third of its health. Killing the boss ends the event.

Rewards

Each day one weapon can drop from that day's boss, along with large amounts of Phantasmal Fragments. The weapons are Apostate (Arc sniper rifle), Heretic (Arc rocket launcher) and Blasphemer (Kinetic shotgun). Reward quality and quantity depend on how many tiers are completed.

Rotation

Three Greater Nightmare bosses rotate daily in a fixed cycle: Nightmare of Taniks (Apostate), Nightmare of Zydron (Heretic) and Nightmare of Phogoth (Blasphemer). The cycle is the same in both sources, but the day-to-day schedule shown in one source covers only January and February 2026, so check the current day's boss in game.

The activity is a Legacy activity and no longer rewards Powerful or Pinnacle gear.
