History of Drifter

Overview

The Drifter is a rogue Lightbearer who runs Gambit and its Gambit Prime mode, and who sells Gambit gear and bounties. He has travelled beyond the Sol System and is a self-interested figure who is often at odds with the Vanguard. He first appears in Forsaken and is also part of the Beyond Light story, where he forms a tenuous fireteam with Eris Morn and the Exo Stranger to encourage measured use of Stasis.

Location

The Drifter is found in the Tower, in the Annex between the Landing Zone and Ada-1.

Quests

The Drifter's active quests include Quid Pro Quo, Malfeasance, Darkness in the Light and The Stasis Prototype, which requires Beyond Light. Older Gambit-related quests such as Gambit, in Its Prime have been vaulted.

Vendor

The Drifter's Gambit vendor offers 17 Gambit ranks. Each rank grants a Gambit Engram that can be decrypted for random Gambit loot or focused into specific gear, and unused engrams expire at the end of the season. Focused Decoding costs one Gambit Engram, 25 Legendary Shards and 5,000 Glimmer per item, and the item must be unlocked in Collections first. Older legacy gear can also be focused, at a higher cost for armor that is not yet in Collections. Resetting the rank after Rank 16 gives a chance for extra perks on Gambit-sourced weapons, up to four resets. The vendor also posts four daily bounties and repeatable bounties that pay Bright Dust, plus a weekly challenge that requires eight bounties from this vendor.
