History of Calculus

Overview

Calculus is a story mission in the The Edge of Fate campaign on Kepler, part of The Gorge Strangelet quest. Following Orin's coordinates, you find where the Vex are refining the power of The Nine; Destinypedia says they are mining dark matter to strengthen their shields, while the House of Exile start their own Glimmer Drill. It follows Disruption and leads to Quarantine.

Walkthrough

1. Start in the Assimilated Easement and take the train portal toward The Stellar Sink/The Gorge, crossing gaps and killing Vex.
2. Use Matterspark (collect Arc charges to Supercharge it) to destroy the Conflux Pylon, then fight the House of Exile Eliksni.
3. Destroy two Vex pylons or Eclipse converters: kill the Hobgoblins guarding the signal cubes, break the cubes, then hit the pylons with a Supercharged Matterspark.
4. Boss: Aphomosis, Assimilation Mind (a guide describes two Wyvern bosses, one shielded). Shields break only with Supercharged Matterspark and return at half health, so repeat the cycle.

Rewards

A chest at the end gives Glimmer, materials and Legendary gear, and the mission advances the Gorge Strangelet quest, revealing another Strangelet capsule location. It has Normal and Legendary versions plus Fabled Mission: Calculus and Mythic Mission: Calculus; see Mission: Calculus.

Notes

Guides disagree on details (boss count and names, "Stellar Sink" vs "Gorge" as the route), and one says it unlocks after the "Siphon" encounter in the quest.
