History of Bottomless Pit

Overview

Bottomless Pit is the Crota's End Exotic quest that rewards Necrochasm. Acquiring the quest from the raid's sword display also awards Husk of the Pit, required for its first objective. Bungie stated in August 2023 that Contest Mode clears during the raid's opening 48 hours completed the quest immediately; quests acquired afterward required the normal steps.

Walkthrough

1. Defeat 100 Hive using Husk of the Pit. Husk final blows in Crota's End grant additional progress. For an alternative Hive source, use a Hive-rich activity such as Altars of Sorrow on the Moon and check the quest counter as you go.
2. Collect 20 Essence of the Oversoul. Bungie confirms raid encounters and Triumphs can award this material. Drop counts vary, so continue completing Crota's End encounters and eligible Triumphs until the counter reaches 20.
3. Defeat Crota in Crota's End to finish the quest and claim Necrochasm.
