History of Bottomless Pit

Overview

Bottomless Pit is the Crota's End Exotic quest that rewards Necrochasm. After acquiring it from the raid's sword display, you receive Husk of the Pit, which is required for the first objective. Bungie says players who acquired the quest during the raid's 48-hour Contest Mode received the rewards immediately; players who acquired it afterward had to complete the quest from the beginning.

Walkthrough

1. Defeat 100 Hive using Husk of the Pit. Final blows with Husk in Crota's End grant additional progress. If raid kills are inconvenient, use a Hive-rich activity such as Altars of Sorrow on the Moon; verify progress on the quest as you go.
2. Collect 20 Essence of the Oversoul. Bungie confirms raid encounters and Triumphs can award the material and that it is needed for this quest. The amount and timing of drops are not guaranteed, so continue completing Crota's End encounters and eligible Triumphs until the counter reaches 20.
3. Defeat Crota in Crota's End to finish the quest and claim Necrochasm.
