History of Yearning Echo

Overview
Yearning Echo is a Legendary armor set for Hunter, Titan and Warlock. Each class has its own five pieces, named for that class: Twisting Echo for Hunters, Descending Echo for Titans and Corrupting Echo for Warlocks. Its bonuses reward picking up pickups and destroying Strand Tangles, so the set is built around pickup generation and Strand damage.
The set comes from the Grasp of Avarice dungeon, a three-player dungeon released on December 7, 2021 with the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack.
Element synergy: Strand is the clearest fit, because Strand Tangles are both a source of stacks and a damage target for the 4-piece bonus. Elemental pickups of any element also feed the stacks, so the set is not locked to one element.
Set bonuses
- Untold Greed (2-piece): picking up ammo, Orbs of Power, elemental pickups or destroying a Strand Tangle grants stacks. Each stack slightly reduces damage taken and gives reload speed to your equipped weapons. Breaking your shields loses some stacks, not all of them. Stacks cap at 100. The sources give no percentages for the damage reduction or reload bonus.
- Overflowing Coffers (4-piece): while you have stacks, Orbs of Power and elemental pickups give more of their energy, and Strand Tangles deal increased damage. Breaking your shields converts all stacks into a fountain of Orbs of Power.
Current status (June 2026): A Destiny 2 Team statement, reposted in a Bungie forum thread on June 18, 2026, says the Overflowing Coffers bonus has been disabled because Strand Tangles could deal more damage than intended. It says a fix will come in a future update. Testing reported in June 2026 that the 4-piece bonus barely functions. The 2-piece bonus is not covered by that statement. Check current patch notes before farming the set for the 4-piece effect.
Pieces
- Hunter (Twisting Echo): Twisting Echo Mask (helmet), Twisting Echo Grips (arms), Twisting Echo Vest (chest), Twisting Echo Strides (legs), Twisting Echo Cloak (class item).
- Titan (Descending Echo): Descending Echo Helm (helmet), Descending Echo Gauntlets (arms), Descending Echo Cage (chest), Descending Echo Greaves (legs), Descending Echo Mark (class item).
- Warlock (Corrupting Echo): Corrupting Echo Cover (helmet), Corrupting Echo Gloves (arms), Corrupting Echo Robes (chest), Corrupting Echo Boots (legs), Corrupting Echo Bond (class item).
Builds
The sources give no stat priorities, mods or exotic pairings for this set. A community armor-set listing suggests pairing it with Tablet of Ruin, Hunter's Journal and Implement of Curiosity. Strand is the natural subclass to pair with it, given the Tangle bonus.
Acquisition
- Activity: Grasp of Avarice, a three-player dungeon. It requires owning the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack and is not one of the free rotating dungeons. Launch it from the Cosmodrome node in the Director. The pack-gated quest And Out Fly the Wolves rewards Gjallarhorn.
- Drops: the dungeon's loot table lists armor per class without tying the set to one encounter. A guide notes that the Phry'zhia encounter favors Matador 64 and armor, and that the Avarokk encounter rounds out the remaining armor slots. On Master difficulty, armor drops are Artifice armor with an extra mod slot.
- Vendor and focusing: none listed in the sources.
- Availability: the guide describes the dungeon as still farmable in the final Monument of Triumph update, Update 9.7.0 (June 9, 2026). No vaulting or sunset date is given.
