Winnower

The Winnower is a mysterious entity in Destiny's Darkness-related lore, first mentioned in Shadowkeep. In the Unveiling entry it claims to be one of two primordial beings that predate the universe, with the Gardener as its counterpart: the Winnower embodies the reduction of complexity, while the Gardener embodies growth and preservation. It also claims to have influenced the evolution of life, including the Cambrian Explosion. Its true nature is still debated, and there is no independent confirmation of its origins. The Witness said it was not the Winnower but "the first knife clutched in its hand."

In gameplay, a Winnower statue appears in the Whetstone encounter of Let Brutality be Thy Whetstone. After the second boss fight, the Guardian claims the power from the statue to receive the Wicked Implement.
