History of Wild Card

Overview

"Wild Card" is an Exotic quest and mission from The Final Shape. After finishing the campaign and the "Queens, Part I" step of Destined Heroes, speak to Cayde-6 at the Lost City Tower to start it. Fireteam size is 1-3 (no matchmaking). The sources disagree slightly on the exact prerequisite wording; the Destiny 2 Wiki ties it to Destined Heroes and Game Rant says the same, while other outlets describe it as unlocked by your Ghost after the campaign. The mission takes roughly 30-45 minutes.

Walkthrough

1. Complete the mission "Wild Card" with Cayde-6 and Crow, investigating an unknown threat.

• Collect Dark Ether from corrupted enemies.
• Defeat the Devourer of Tainted Light, a corrupted War Beast; follow it into its energy shields.
• Destroy the Blights, clearing Taken around them, then defeat the Dread Omen bosses.
• Snipe falling Shanks from an overlook until the giant Hoarder of Tainted Light appears.
• Defeat Lii'liks, Harvester of the Witness, a Scorn Abomination. Kill Screebs, deposit 10 Dark Ether into the canister when it retreats (around 66% and 33% health), and repeat.
• Tips: a Prismatic build helps; Concussive Dampeners armor reduces Screeb damage; mid-range weapons like Scout Rifles suit the Shank fight.

1. Listen to the radio transmission in the Lost City Tower.
2. Speak to Cayde-6 by the crates to receive the reward.

Rewards

• Still Hunt Exotic Sniper Rifle with the trait Cayde's Retribution (charge Super via Orbs of Power or precision hits, then reload for Golden Gun rounds).
• Completing it is also listed as a requirement for Salvation's Edge Contest mode access.
