History of Vorgeth

Overview

"Vorgeth, the Boundless Hunger" is the first boss of the Shattered Throne dungeon in the Dreaming City: a massive Taken Ogre encountered in the Eleusinia area, guarded by four Taken Wizards (Keepers of Petitions) plus Vandals and Goblins.

Encounter

1. Clear the adds; the sniper Vandals hit very hard.
2. Kill the four Keeper of Petitions Wizards. Each drops an orb that gives the fireteam the Petitioner's Mark debuff, which has a countdown (about 45 seconds); if it runs out the team wipes, and dying removes it.
3. Stack the marks into Petitioner's Burden and use it at the glowing braziers/structures to extinguish them, which drops Vorgeth's immunity shield.
4. Damage Vorgeth while the shield is down. It fires slow homing Taken orbs and Axion Dart swarms that can be shot down; one damage phase is usually enough.

Sources differ on details (stack count of three vs four; one calls the dart attack 'bombs'), and the dungeon has been re-run in later seasons, so verify in game. Weapons such as Whisper of the Worm are commonly recommended for damage.
