History of Volantes Violentiam

Overview

Volantes Violentiam is the exotic catalyst quest for The Manticore, an Exotic Submachine Gun introduced in Season of the Seraph (Season 19). Banshee-44 gives it in the Tower. It is a one-time quest per account and requires owning The Manticore. It is a grind: 200 calibration data and 500 total kills across steps.

After the season, The Manticore can be bought from the Monument to Lost Light (ProGameTalk). The older sources refer to Vanguard Operations, Gambit and Crucible; the in-game text now says Ops and Portal-style activities, so wording may have changed since.

Walkthrough

1. Reconstruct the catalyst: defeat 50 targets with Submachine Guns while airborne. Use The Manticore's Soaring Fang perk, which extends airtime; kill weak enemies quickly.
2. Calibrate data: with The Manticore equipped, earn 200 calibration data and defeat 450 targets. Calibration comes from completing Ops activities; Crucible wins give additional progress, as do higher-tier Nightfall completions, Gambit wins and Guardian kills.
3. Return to Banshee-44 in the Tower to receive the calibrated catalyst.

Rewards

• The Manticore Catalyst, which grants Flying Monster: improved resistance when you land final blows while airborne.

Trivia

• Banshee-44's quest lines: "Veist tech. Could use some punching up." and "Just a little calibration and it'll really start to sting."
