History of Vex Cube

Overview

Vex Cubes are Vex objects in Expunge missions from Season of the Splicer. They behave differently by mission.

Tartarus

In Expunge: Tartarus cubes are immune to damage unless you have the Stabilized Security Access buff, gained by standing on a plate formed from a hacked Vex pylon (max 32 stacks, decaying 1 per second). Destroying all cubes in an area drops the Vex forcefield. Five walls with growing cube counts appear. Farming this mission is the usual route for the Brute Force triumph.

Styx and Delphi

Per Shacknews, in Expunge: Styx and Expunge: Delphi you stand in a cube's circle to recharge the Authentication Key countdown (up to 10 seconds).
