Totem

Overview

A Totem is a Revenant Baron's object that carries the Devouring Essence. In Captive Memories, the third mission of Episode: Revenant, the Revenant Baron is shielded until its three High Revenants are defeated. Guardians must then eliminate the Baron's totem to dispel the Devouring Essence debuff.

Mechanic

The Devouring Essence debuff kills the player if it runs out, so killing the totem is required to clear it. The same Baron and totem mechanic returns in Kell's Vengeance. Sources give different debuff timers, so the exact timer is not stated here.
