The World's Grave

Overview

The World's Grave is a private area inside the Hellmouth on the Moon, in the Ocean of Storms. It is a large archive that houses much of the Hive's lore: its records of Earth, of every world the Hive has encountered, and of things the Hive feared and buried.

The archive holds a detailed schematic of the Dreadnaught and notes on Hive anatomy, which is based on eating Worms for survival. The Hive can also erase records from it, as they did with Nokris after she committed heresy.

Connections

The World's Grave connects to three areas: the Chamber of Night, the Circle of Bones and the Temple of Crota.

Notable events

• Early Guardian forays: Guardians entered the Grave to recover the Hive's Earth data and to stop a ritual in the Chamber of Night that was draining the Traveler's Light.
• The Taken War: The Guardian escaped the Moon's depths through the Grave, whose chambers the Taken King's forces had sealed with Tomb Husks.
• Haunting of the Moon: Years later the Grave was largely abandoned. Omnigul made her lair in the former ritual chamber and was repeatedly hunted by Guardian fireteams.
• Shadowkeep: A Barrier Knight occasionally lurks in the area, and Lunar Scavengers can also appear there.
