History of The Wardcliff Coil

The Wardcliff Coil is an Arc Exotic Rocket Launcher introduced in Year One of Destiny 2.

Overview

Mad Scientist fires a volley of rockets and grants Bolt Charge to nearby allies for every other rocket fired. Mechanized Autoloader reloads the weapon when you pick up ammo; since June 9, 2026 it also works while the weapon is stowed. Bungie raised its maximum ammo from five to eight on that date.

Acquisition

It drops from Exotic engrams and as a world drop. Xûr's inventory varies by week.

Catalyst

The catalyst is completed by defeating enemies with the weapon; its source is listed under the Exotic Catalysts section of Triumphs. Older guides listing Heroic or Nightfall Strikes describe a former route.
