The Tangled Shore is a patchwork wasteland on the edge of the Reef, in the Asteroid Belt, made of asteroids held together with grappling hooks and cables. It was the main setting of the Forsaken campaign (released September 4, 2018).

Overview

The region became a refuge for the undead Scorn after their escape from the Prison of Elders, and a battleground between the Scorn and the House of Dusk, with Hive, Cabal and Vex threats too. A ring-shaped portal structure connects it to The Dreaming City.

How to get there

Originally unlocked after the first Forsaken mission. It is no longer accessible: Wikipedia says the Tangled Shore and Forsaken campaign were moved into the Destiny Content Vault when The Witch Queen launched (February 22, 2022), the campaign having been made free first. Destinypedia adds that Mara Sov reclaimed the region and that it is the only sunset location made inaccessible because every in-universe reason to visit was resolved.

Regions

Four-Horn Gulch, Jetsam of Saturn, Sorik's Cut, Thieves' Landing, and the Gambit map Kell's Grave.

Vendors and NPCs

The Spider, leader of the Fallen crime syndicate and main vendor, later forced into hiding and smuggled out by The Drifter. Petra Venj allies with the player in the story.

Activities

Six story missions (including "Last Call" and "Scorned"), three strikes, Baron hunts against the eight Scorned Barons, Lost Sectors, patrols, and Gambit maps. The campaign climaxes with Uldren Sov and Fikrul, the Fanatic. The Forsaken story is about avenging Cayde-6's death at Uldren's hands.

Notable loot

Standard activity drops plus Spider vendor exchanges for resources and gear.

Lore

The Shore is the Scorn's home turf and the Spider's seat of power. It continues to be mentioned in later lore even though it cannot be visited.
