History of The Sixth Coyote

The Sixth Coyote is a Hunter Exotic chest armor piece introduced in the Forsaken expansion.

Overview

Exotic Perk – Double Dodge: Gain a second dodge charge. This significantly enhances a Hunter's survivability and tactical flexibility by allowing more frequent repositioning in combat.

Acquisition

The Sixth Coyote can be obtained through multiple methods:

• Exotic Engrams – Random world drops, though extremely rare.
• Xûr – When Xûr visits the Tower, he occasionally sells this exotic for 23 Legendary Shards.
• Master Rahool – Since July 15, 2025, Master Rahool offers Novel Focusing for past-expansion Exotic armor without requiring a reputation-track reset.

Catalyst

The Sixth Coyote does not have a catalyst.

Gameplay

The second dodge charge fundamentally changes Hunter playstyle by enabling more aggressive mobility patterns. In PvP, the extra charge allows for rapid evasion and repositioning against incoming fire, creating opportunities for outplaying opponents. In PvE, it provides enhanced survivability during high-damage encounters and facilitates faster navigation through patrol zones and dungeons.

Lore

The exotic's lore, titled "From the Diary of Himura Shinobu," documents Himura Shinobu's work training three newly resurrected Guardians—Therin Vai (Human), Nadiya (Awoken), and Lee-4 (Exo)—near her settlement. The narrative explores themes of identity and redemption, with a dialogue between Shinobu and Micah-10 suggesting Shinobu adopted a new identity after leaving her past behind.
