History of The Manticore Catalyst

Overview

The Manticore Catalyst tracks the 700 weapon final blows needed to masterwork The Manticore, an Exotic Void energy Submachine Gun. It is an Exotic catalyst collection record.

Acquisition

The catalyst currently drops from playlist activity completions in Vanguard Ops, Crucible and Gambit. Its original Season of the Seraph acquisition route was the Volantes Violentiam quest.

How to complete

After obtaining the catalyst, equip The Manticore and defeat 700 targets with it. Progress accumulates between activities. The kill objective does not require airborne kills, so clear groups of weak enemies from the ground when that is safer. Use weapon final blows rather than finishing targets with abilities.

Reward

Apply the completed catalyst to The Manticore to add Flying Monster. In its current form, airborne sustained damage and final blows against difficult combatants grant a Void Overshield, reduce combatant accuracy and return ammunition to the magazine. The original 2022 version described damage resistance on airborne final blows; that older effect predates the weapon's subsequent rework.
