History of The Manticore

The Manticore is a Void Exotic Submachine Gun released during Season of the Seraph.

Acquisition

• It was originally a Season Pass reward during Season of the Seraph. Shacknews' January 2023 guide records the post-season route as the Monument to Lost Lights; check the in-game Monument for current availability and cost.

Catalyst

• Volantes Violentiam is a quest from Banshee-44 in the Tower. The first step requires 50 airborne Submachine Gun defeats; the next asks for 200 calibration data and target defeats while using The Manticore; then return to Banshee-44.
• Bungie reworked the catalyst in February 2024. The older Flying Monster description in early guides is obsolete; the updated catalyst grants Void Overshield and returns ammo through airborne damage/defeats.
