Tharsis Massacre

Overview

The Tharsis Massacre is the attack on the Tharsis Outpost on Mars during Renegades. Dredgen Bael fired an orbital superweapon from Mars orbit, identified as Nightfall Station (also called the Nightfall). The shot used Eclipse Energy, which Bael said negates paracausal power completely. Guardians and Ghosts lost their Light and died; Ghosts with Light were affected, and people without the Light were unharmed. Dozens of Guardians and Ghosts were killed, including the Ghost commune leader Berlioz. Eido was at the outpost when the beam hit.

The weapon was commanded by Premier Lume, whom the Guardian later defeats.

Quest steps

• Step 14 has the Guardian search for survivors of the attack. The searches find a dead unpaired Ghost and Berlioz's Ghost shell.
• Step 15 has the Guardian bring the Ghost shell to Commander Zavala's office in the Tower for interment.
• Step 16 has the Guardian speak with Zavala about the attack.
• Step 21 has the Guardian ante up with Zephyrus, the Vex "Autonomous Mind", who offers a plan to locate an Imperium shuttle.
• Step 22 has the Guardian place banners for the Vex Card Game in Tharsis.
• Steps 23 and 26 have Zephyrus describe the banners' sensors and report that tracking points to a shuttle on Europa.
