History of Standard Essences

Overview

Standard Essences are a material used in the essence phase of the Nightmare of Caiatl fight in the Duality dungeon.

Acquisition

During the essence phase, kill the correct Psions on the balconies of the Nightmare Realm arena. Symbols on the walls above the balconies show which Psions are correct. Killing a correct Psion pushes the nightmare back 15 seconds and spawns a Standard Essence to pick up. Killing the wrong Psion halves the timer.

Use

Carry the essences back to the Material Realm and deposit each one on the plate that matches its symbol. Depositing essences reveals the remaining symbols. Once all required essences are deposited, the chains beside the plates glow and the damage phase begins.

Reported essence counts differ between sources (2022).
