Overview

Shadow of Earth is the title Emperor Calus gives the Guardian in the Chronicon, one of his Shadows.

Chronicon

The Chronicon, a lore book added with Season of Opulence, records a banquet held the day the Guardian became Earth's Shadow. Entry DCCCVII, recorded by Scribe Shagac, is marked "forthcoming". A troupe stages a fictionalized version of Dominus Ghaul's defeat, the Shadow applauds loudly, and Calus gives a speech welcoming the Shadow as the start of a new era: "Today, Earth casts a Shadow."

The book is Calus-loyalist propaganda. Events are whitewashed in his favor, some speculative future events are presented as record, and scribes who wrote "treasonous" accounts were replaced. It is a view of how the regime wanted its story told, not a neutral record.
