Safiyah

Safiyah is Commander Zavala's former partner, a mortal surgeon from the Dark Age who travelled from place to place offering her medical skills. Before the Vanguard and The Last City existed, she approached Lord Saladin's camp and offered to treat its people in exchange for shelter, which is how she met Zavala. The two became partners and adopted a boy, Hakim. Hakim was killed by Kethiks, one of the Yet-Proven, during a Vandal attack, and Safiyah could not save him. The couple later separated, with Zavala returning to Lord Saladin and Safiyah travelling on. She later had a daughter, and her descendants eventually joined the Last City.

Appearances

Safiyah is first mentioned in Destiny 2 during Season of the Splicer. She is identified by name in Season of the Haunted, where her Nightmare, the Nightmare of Safiyah, appears in the opening mission on the Derelict Leviathan. The Nightmare is a creature formed by the Pyramids to haunt those with fear or regret, and Zavala begs the Guardian to hold back and follow where Safiyah leads. Her story is revisited in later seasons. She is voiced by Tamberla Perry.
