History of Rewards Pass

Overview

The Rewards Pass is the seasonal reward track in Destiny 2. Each Season has a free track that every player can access and a premium track that requires owning that season's Rewards Pass. Progress is measured in Seasonal Ranks, which are earned through play and challenges. Each rank in Seasonal Ranks can unlock rewards on the free track, the premium track, or both.

Premium track

The premium track offers extra rewards, some of them exclusive, and in some cases earlier access to items than the free track. Players who own the pass can claim those rewards at each rank.

Acquisition

The pass is sold for Silver; the earlier Season Pass listings give a price of 1,000 Silver. Current wiki text says it can be bought from Eververse or comes with an expansion edition. Sources disagree on the exact route and price for the most recent season, so check the in-game Season tab.

Ranks and resets

Ranks reset when a season ends, and the next season starts its own pair of reward tracks. The 2019 preview of this system described progress as XP earned through normal play rather than special challenges.

Naming

Earlier seasons used the name Season Pass for the same system. The sources reviewed do not date the change to Rewards Pass.
