Relegation Series

The Relegation Series is the Competitive Crucible series that decides whether a player keeps their Competitive Division rank after a failed Promotion Series. Winning two of the next three matches keeps the player in their division. Failing it demotes the player to the next subdivision, such as Ascendant I to Ascendant II, or a full division if they are at a division breakpoint (for example, Ascendant III to Adept I). Guides describe the trigger differently: most say a failed Promotion Series starts a Relegation Series, while one describes losing two matches in a row at the bottom of a division. Since Season of the Wish, lower divisions rank up without a Promotion Series.
